Let’s Try That Again…

Tuesday night, had Set To Sea in to track another song, and, well, it just didn’t go very well. So, we tried again last night, and it worked. Sometimes, that’s just how it goes. And when you’re tracking live, it’s gotta go well. I also turned over all the video footage we have from the recording to the band, so hopefully soon they will be posting some clips.

After editing some vocals, I caught the Lassie show a the Echoplex last night. Super the awesome! I shot a bit of video, look for it soon. I also got to check out Origami Vinyl finally. Great place.I’m trying (desperately) to catch up and upload bits and pieces of content collected over the last.…20 years or so. Studio tonight with Set To Sea again, to retrack another song. And so on, and so on…
Thank you, Lassie Foundation!

Thursday night, Lassie was rehearsing for their show on Monday at the Echoplex. So I stopped in to say hello and shot some video. It was great to see everyone, and the band sounds great.
Set To Sea tracking

Had Set To Sea in the room last night, retracking a song for their full-length. We had cut it before I left, but while I was gone they played live a whole bunch and made it better. Like all of their songs, we set everyone up in the room together and got it all at once (except for vocals). They are a great live band, so that’s what I try to capture. The AC wasn’t really keepin’ up, so it got very warm in the room. And Jala persevered through some interesting gear issues as well. But, with all of that and some of the usual horseplay, we got a song. Another great song. And then, after the last take, they played me a brand new song that blew me away. Can’t wait for the world to hear that one, too.[image][image][image][image][image]

Finally getting back into the swing of things. I was gone for essentially 3 months, working on the OneRepublic album. Before I left I had quite a bit of unfinished stuff going, which I am now sorting through. Quite a task.I’ve discovered some new (to me) music that I like (finally!). Check it out if you can:First of all, I’m a sucker for the new stuff by The Horrors. Reminds me of some of my favorite things.I also think that The Joy Formidable is pretty great. And finally, Herb-approved The Big Pink.Other mentions include white belt yellow tag, SPCECO, Sad Day For Puppets, Air Formation, Howling Bells, and Verve reincarnated (at least musically) as Exit Calm.Check ‘em out.
