Telegram vs Nick

Late last night i went down to Northern’s stu­dio to work on some songs only to be hijacked by Telegram/​Nick record­ing a piece music that i can only define as art.  As a rule, of my own, i gen­er­ally don’t con­sider most music, includ­ing my own, art.  What i heard last night was art and it was hum­bling, excit­ing, beau­ti­ful, con­fi­dent, and very frus­trat­ing. What Nick and Andrew were work­ing on was beau­ti­ful and spe­cial.  It was frus­trat­ing because it was an uncom­fort­able reminder that there is no grace given to those who are lazy in Rock n Roll.  The lazy fail.c  

Summer Songs

New Music!A cou­ple of weeks ago, Telegram posted the song “Who You Are” on their Northernworld page.  We have been work­ing on this song for quite some time, and it has gone through many vari­a­tions.  In the form which has been posted, it includes yours truly on lead gui­tar and bass, Dylan on drums, Tysen on rhodes, and Nick play­ing gui­tar and singing (and cre­at­ing the ‘space’ sounds).  The basics of drums, bass and rhythm gui­tar were tracked live together at Northern, and then a long period of vary­ing over­dubs, start overs and redos com­menced.  It’s a favorite of mine, and I hope you enjoy it as well.This week, we have the first song from Leslie DuPre Grimaud, a track called “Raven’s Song”.  I had the priv­i­lege of play­ing gui­tar on this song as well, and even man­aged to squeek in the last minute use of my Convulsion Fuzz.  Eric and I have known Leslie, and her hus­band (some guy named Herb) for years and years.  Among other things, she fronted the only legit dark­wave band in the early days of the SoCal scene, and added the haunt­ingly beau­ti­ful vocals to “58” and “Never Enough” by the Prayer Chain.  She has hun­dreds of amaz­ing songs, wait­ing to go, which I look for­ward to being a part of​.So, finally, new music.  More to come, sooner rather than later.
